A Mulberry Sort of Day
Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10:05 PM
We've had a mulberry day, Claire and I.
We wore mulberry clothes...
Played with mulberry paper...
Ate mulberries...
Now we're thoroughly mulberried!
EDIT: Several people have asked me where I get mulberries from. In the UK, I buy mine online from Raw Living. In the US, you can get them from Living Tree Community Foods. I don't think I've ever had their mulberries but, when I lived in the States, I bought lots of other stuff from them and their produce is of the highest quality. Can't be bettered. Also, I've just searched and discovered a company called Nuts Online that sells them in the US very cheaply. I've never bought from this company so can't vouch for them, but the mulberries they picture look the same as the ones I buy.
If you've never tried a mulberry, I highly recommend them. They have a sweet, honeyed flavour and a slightly chewy texture. Extremely moreish!

Mulberries are DELICIOUS! Very moreish. They have a sweet, honeyed flavour and a slightly chewy texture. Wish I could send you some through the internet ether!
EDIT: I've just posted details of suppliers above.
Your mulberries are larger and more pink than ours. Ours are half the size of a bluleberry and a dark purple like a blackberry. The last time I ate mulberries, I picked them off the trees at college. I recall seeing that some in my fist had little worms....left them uneated and chalked any eaten worms up to protein. Never felt inclined to eat them since. Glad you had a thoroughly mulberry day you two. I wore a symphony of browns and teal greens today: brown turtleneck merino sweater, brown suede 8 gore skirt, bluegreen tights and a lovely teal and brown long cardigan jacket. I felt rather sporty and was sufficiently warm. Success on both counts- looks and comfort.
You think of such lovey things to do. Might try it with my friend. Loved the smiley face xxx
I never have seen a real mulberry before! what do they taste like?
