Grass
Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 6:06 PM
We have a problem here in Dixon Hill land. If you live elsewhere in the UK, then chances are you have it too.
It’s cold. Despite all April’s sunshine, we had only a couple of truly warm days last month. And May - so far - has brought winter-bitter winds that have had us reaching for hats and scarves and gloves again.
All of which means the grass isn’t growing. Not to any significant degree, anyway. Farmers are still having to fork out for feed at a time of year when cattle and sheep would normally be chomping happily on fresh spring grazing.
So…..if you’re in a part of the world that’s enjoying balmy days and soft breezes….blow a little of the bounty this way, will you?

Oh im so sorry to hear that it's still so cold there for you! I am sending you lots of warm sunny days, sunshines and wind all the way here from Malaysia! Keep warm! Have a lovely merry happy weekend and love to you!
Gosh. I am so spoiled. We have had 80 degree weather for several weeks now. We do have fierce winds many days and the occasional threat of tornado many afternoons, but hey! this is Texas. We live on the wild side.
Yesterday brought 80 degrees then gale force winds and pummeling rains for about 2hours. Today is cloudy with chance of rain, but 80s all next week are forecast. It rained a whopping 7 inches where my folks live yesterday. The ponds are all overflowing now and the wildflowers are glorious with the promise of even more color next week with the sunshine to encourage them post rains.
I wish you warm sunshine and green grass soon.
Wish I get send you some California sunshine, but we have also been getting a long extended rainy season. Typically by end of April, the chances of rain are minimal. This year, we've had about 1 cold wintery rainstorm (tho not big one) just about every weekend in May. I think another one is expected in several days again.
The silver lining is that we've had drought years the last 3 years. With all the rain this year, our reservoirs and snow pack are finally getting back to normal.
