The Fruits of the Moors

fruits of the moorsOkay, this post concerns, er….bird droppings. So if that seems a teeny bit distasteful to you - or you’re busy enjoying your dinner - then click away now!

The thing is this. The rocks on the moors are usually bespattered - as rocks are - with white splodges. The kind of white splodges that drop out of birds.

But in July and August, these splodges tend to fall a deep, dark purple - because the birds have been filling their little tummies with bilberries.

This year, however - since bilberries are so scarce - there’ve been very few purple splodges. Which makes the one pictured something of a rarity. Hence the photograph!

Never let it be said that I don’t know how to entertain you. J

I'm glad the birds enjoyed the bilberries but I prefer mine in pies
