Turkish Delight
Okay, it’s a seriously corny title, I know, but I couldn’t resist it. My time in Istanbul was extraordinary - despite the lack of sightseeing and consequent lack of photos. There are other ways to enjoy a city.
It turned out to be a weekend of firsts:
- I wrote my first short story (more on this anon)
- I found my first four-leaf clover (I’ve searched for years)
- I entered a mosque for the first time (surprises me I’ve never done this before)
The annual Tulip Festival was in progress and the city was vibrant with flowers. The sun shone and left a perfect, heart-shaped sunburn mark on my chest. There was serious magic in the air.
In all sorts of ways, Istanbul proved to be significant and remarkable.
As for the sightseeing….I’ll be back!
P.S. The photo shows detail from the Blue Mosque.

What an amazing picture of the Blue Mosque!
Glad to see that you're better and can do a little sight seeing before your return to the UK.
GORGEOUS detail... Oh, yes, you'll be going back, Helen. :o) So glad the trip proved to hold many surprises for your and growth opportunities. Will look forward to hearing more about your short story. I love writing, creative writing and have been enjoying sharing my poetry via blogging again. And writing while on holiday just seems to happen naturally, doesn't it? Anyway, how you are feeling better now. Share more from your trip soon. ((HUGS))
Despite being ill hope you enjoyed the lovely views from that fabulous bedroom window and pleased to hear you were able to fit in some sightseeing too.
