The Sling: Day Three

Day 3

Shoes today.  How on earth did I wind up with so many?  I’m not even a shoe person (at least, I didn’t think I was….).

Flagging a bit today.  Can’t say I’m experiencing that ‘floating’ feeling that Helen wrote about in yesterday’s comments.  Oh, no!  More like a stuck-in-treacle kind of a feeling.  A helpless, overwhelmed sort of a feeling.  But I’ll press on!

Please keep the encouragement coming.  Remember, there’s a prize for the best reason you can come up with for slinging stuff.

And have you noticed how close I am to my target?  Just £15 short!  If you want to help me get there - even a tiny bit closer - then click here.

Today’s thank you present goes to my very own Dad.  Thank you, Daddy, for sponsoring me!

It takes great courage to sling. To see life with less things. To see ourselves with less actually makes more room for us to truly "be" who we are. Yes, it's scary. Yes it's worth it in the end. That is from this woman here who is still slinging in her storeroom. Slingers unite!

Cheers for slinging!
We've moved 4 times in 4 years. Each time we move, I purge (sling) while packing and unpacking. It became addicting to me for several reasons (I can bore you with a full list another time) but the main reason is this:

I realized how having earthly stuff distracted me from being fully present in this life here on earth. Ironic isn't it? By ridding myself of the physical clutter, much of the mental clutter went out with it. This freed up space for me to do the things I feel God has called me to do.
I love what it says in http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%206:19-21&version=NIV" rel="nofollow">Matthew 6:19-21. To me, this keeps my eyes focused on a perspective of constant decluttering/slinging.

Oh, one more thing...there is a HUGE element of TRUST that goes along with ridding ourselves of the clutter. It is scary to clear that mental space and room for the unknown. Trust and have faith that the empty space and void will be beautiful...because that is where we'll all get to MORE of YOU.
